DIY Home Washing

Is your home dirty? Ask yourself this question: What would my car look like if it sat out everyday and never got washed? Your home gets just as dirty just sitting there every day.

Many homeowners can do their own regular house washing. There is nothing magical about keeping your house looking fresh longer. I wash my home twice a year. This just extends the life of the paint job, by making it look new longer. Any pressure washer will do a good enough job for regular maintenance. Even a nozzle on a garden hose will do just fine if you rinse your house down often enough.

You can rent a pressure washer or purchase an inexpensive unit. These will be just fine for periodic cleaning. They are not powerful enough for us when we are preparing for painting. But, they will do just fine for rinsing off loose dirt.

Pre-wet the surface first. This will help to loosen up any dust. Then start at the top and start rinsing the surface down. If you do this during the dry season; you will be watering your plants as they need it. Doing this often enough keeps dust and pollution from getting baked on.
