David cocks his head to the side. “I don’t see what you mean.” Stephanie points to the white border on their newly painted garage. “Oooohhh ok. Yeah, it looks like the painter missed the whole edge.”
Stephanie huffs and frowns. “Well, we need to call him and ask him about this. It looks like he did it on purpose so there has to be a reason.” David gets out his phone and calls the painter to ask. Here is what the painter tells the couple:

You can paint behind garage door weather strips, but it may not be a good idea. Top-quality, 100% acrylic paints contain plasticizers. Your garage door weatherstrip has the exact same ingredient, which means they’ll stick together. You might damage your garage trying to open it!

Why We Don’t Paint Behind Here Anymore
The painter’s mother-in-law wanted him to paint her garage door to match the brick around it. He painted it, including behind the weather strips.
The next day, disaster struck. She calls him to tell him that she can’t get out of her garage. The door is stuck! He goes over and peels the paint so she can get out. He scuff-sanded the edge to make sure it’d be fine.
Two days later, disaster strikes, again!
